The 2010 Posidonia Cup marks the 5th anniversary of this exciting sailing race, which will once again kick off Posidonia week in a spectacular and exciting fashion.
This year’s Posidonia Cup coincides with another major occasion, the 250 year anniversary of its sponsor, Lloyd’s Register. As part of these celebrations the 2010 race promises to attract many of the yachts currently sailing the Aegean sea and will also draw in crowds and spectator boats wanting to join this landmark event!
Again the three racing divisions, together with the newly established classic boats category, guarantee fierce competition and will transform FalironBay into a sea of sails - an impressive sight highlighting the commitment of the global shipping community to this unique international gathering of leaders of the shipping community that is Posidonia.
Either with their own yacht or with one provided by the organisers, members of the international shipping community are invited to join the 5th Posidonia Cup race sponsored by Lloyd’s Register and organised by HORC, the Hellenic Offshore Racing Club.
A record 64 yachts, nearly 500 crew members and two Olympic medal winners were the ingredients of the action-packed Posidonia Cup 2008 sailing race, which culminated in a prestigious award ceremony at the picturesque Ble Seaside Club, bringing professional sailors, shipping executives and experienced seamen together and creating the very special Posidonia atmosphere. Both the race itself and the award ceremony will, yet again, provide the global shipping community the opportunity to meet, reinforce old friendships and create new ones.
